WHAT’S THE HAPS IN STUDIO CITY/NOHO…

I hope you come and try some new restaurants in our area and support these local Mom and Pop shops that are keeping us nourished with wonderful food, great company and a connection to our community.

King's Road Cafe is closing its Studio City location and Alan Jackson is bringing his Lemonade to this location sometime in May. This will be a lovely addition to a booming restaurant row Ventura Blvd. has become.  We already are lucky enough to have such great eateries like Black Market, Laurel Tavern, The Village, Next Door, La Loggia, Charlies and now we have Tuning Fork, and Joan's on Third coming too.
Sompun restaurant has also closed.  It was a lovely little family owned Thai restaurant that I have been going to since I was 20.  They finally retired and I say, 'good for them'. I wish them well on their next journey.  Tuning Fork Gastropub has come in and will be opening soon.  I spoke to the owner, Martin, the other day and he says they will be offering organic farm to table food with a lovely selection of beer and wine.  He will be sourcing his ingredients right from the Farmer's Market, which is at his front door on Sundays.  I am happy to welcome him into the neighborhood and support his vision.  He says they should be having a soft opening in a few weeks.  Joan's on Third is also moving in a few doors down come late spring or early summer. I'm getting hungry just thinking about all this great food.

If you haven't gone to Republic of Pie in North Hollywood yet you should go and check it out. John, the owner, has created a lovely space to come together as a community and eat his yummy food.  He offers handmade artisan pies, coffees and teas along with an array of pastries, egg dishes and other baked goodies. He makes everything in his bakery and trust me, it is all delicious.
(yes, I have tried the scones and the pie and the…, but I personally enjoy a cup of Velvet tea with his delicious yogurt, berries and homemade granola-best I have ever had.) :)
Known for his sweet and savory pies as well as a great cup of Intelligentsia brewed coffee by people who really know tea and coffee and how it should be done.  Go on in, say hi to John, have a cup of Rooibos Velvet tea, curl up on the couch and read a book or hang with a friend. Republic of Pie is located across the street from my studio. It is just east on Lankershim on the south side of Magnolia.

Mangie!
