PETA

I am so happy to announce that I am working with PETA as a Vegan Mentor. This work is very close to my heart for reasons you are all well aware of. If you know anyone in need of support, or you are yourself perhaps, let me know and I will connect you to the Senior Vegan Mentor Coordinator at PETA.

Here is a little more information for those of you who are interested.

PETA’s Vegan Mentor Program (VMP) helps ease aspiring vegans’ transition to a vegan lifestyle by offering one-on-one support from knowledgeable mentors. Our vegan mentor program coordinator (VMPC) pairs mentees with a “seasoned” volunteer mentor (VM) who can address their questions and concerns about going vegan, in addition to offering guidance on shopping, cooking, dining, or anything else related to vegan living.

The program strives to foster a healthy, sustainable lifestyle change by offering a network of support and resources that promote kindness over cruelty. Our mentor program values positive encouragement and support for continual progress from our participants. While we don’t want people to be content with supporting any form of animal exploitation, we also want to encourage mentees to take it one step at a time. Going from zero to 100 isn’t the best strategy for many people. We support them by regularly reminding them that this isn’t a race and that they should go at their own pace and not be too hard on themselves if they “slip up.”

For a lot of people trying to incorporate change, it’s important to start by setting lower, achievable goals rather than lofty, less realistic ones. By gradually working their way through the changing lifestyle, they can ultimately achieve their highest goals. But the process of getting there is easier if they feel the success of achieving smaller victories along the way.

I am proud to be a Vegan Mentor.
