Hello my loves,
How are you? And I am actually asking that question with the hope that you will reply to this email and tell me; none of my questions are rhetorical. I invite you to always reply to my emails and engage in a share so that we may continue our connection on this path of life we are all on.
I would like to share April’s theme with you. I have decided to invite us all to draw together, yup that’s right. Dust off those markers, colored pencils, and even crayons. As many of you know I have been embracing all avenues of healing as I continue to recover from my TBI. Most recently I have fallen in love with faux calligraphy and within the concussion healing course’s mindful art module we learned how to create a mandala as well. It reminded me of my love for coloring in mandalas. I have always loved the practice as I find the benefits quite noticeable, and pleasurable.
Here is a bit more info and some of the benefits.
Mandala means circle in Sanskrit. It is used in meditation, prayer, healing, art therapy, occupational rehab, simple enjoyment, and much more. The ritual of coloring mandalas has been shown to:
~boost the immune system
~reduce stress
~improve posture
~promote sleep
~ease depression
~lower blood pressure
~calm the mind
~increase confidence
~enhance concentration
~improve focus
~supports unplugging from tech
~healthy hobby to do with loved ones
~and so much more…
Suggestion~
The intention in this practice is to be with your breath. Hold your marker/pencil lightly; relax your hand, arm and shoulders. Play a little bit every day with your mandala. There is no goal. The experience is simply about being in the moment with the experience. You can make a cup of herbal tea, play some grounding music, perhaps 528 hz vibrational sound healing, and deepen into the experience. This can be a lovely practice if you have difficulty sleeping, are feeling any anxiety, rapid thinking, ruminating mind, pain, impatience, boredom, or simply want to be more connected to your breath, the moment, and mindfulness. If this practice is something you wish to do more of there are many books available. Please let me know if you would like recommendations.
Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to share your experiences.
Enjoy!
