We Are Alive!

What if all month long we simply celebrate how frickin’ fabulous we are? And if you know me at all, which I think you do, I mean REALLY celebrate it.

Here’s my suggestion~

For the month of September, and forever after, we celebrate everything about who we are—as we are. We let everything about us be okay. We rock who we are on a grand scale. We turn up the volume a bit, or a lot and live out loud, proud, colorfully and vibrantly in all ways; whatever that means to you. You get to make this your own.

This may be something very private and only for those in your inner circle to notice or it may be how you rock an outfit walking down the street and turn heads. Whatever your choice I ask that you do it full throttle; mindfully, passionately, without apology, explanation, or story and with your whole Self along for the ride.

Here are a few things I’ve been rockin’ over here. Lately I have been moved to use more flavor in my cooking so I am taking more risks, playing with recipes that might normally intimidate me, using an ingredient I don’t know about, giving myself more permission to be more experimental and forward with my love of cooking. Fear is my invitation in, not away from.

I’ve been drawn to wearing hats lately (I never wear hats), layering more jewelry than I usually anoint myself with, combining pieces in my wardrobe that I’ve never worn together, I got shoes out of the upper cabinet in my closet that I never wear and started being more playful, expressive and colorful with my attire. I know I’m rockin’ it when my husband is constantly saying to me ‘What got into you?’ :)

I am also going to one extreme or the other with my makeup. Some days I am feeling brave enough to not put on any make up at all and saying ‘fuck it’ to the inner voice that tells me I should perfect all the imperfections if I’m going to go out in public. What is this? It is nonsense and I’m not gonna take it anymore. And on the flip side some days I want to put on mascara and lipstick and get a bit dolled up and love it! Depends on my mood. But whatever I choose, I am choosing it because I want to and living from this space of turning up the volume on who I am in the moment and celebrating that!

I am feeling more confidant in my design choices at home and moving forward with some projects that have been intimidating me over the years or never get up and going. Same with landscaping, just do it already! :)

Reading books that I’ve had for years and really wanting to have the experience of what the author intended when they wrote it.

Watching as much British and Scandinavian TV as possible to constantly feed my inner thirst for brilliance.

Talking to people who feed my soul. Spending time with humans who raise my bar; make me a better person, teach me something, make me feel safe, pretty, loved, seen, honored, respected, and more!

Emmett and I went to Lake Arrowhead the other day for a memorial for my dear friend and I was filled with trepidation due to lingering PTSD from previous car accidents. I haven’t gone on a road trip since nor driven far due to the intense pain I am still in with the head trauma recovery, as well as emotional fragility around driving long distances. But I did it! Obviously having such a powerful purpose of being at the destination did make the decision for me regardless of how I was feeling, but it was a challenge for me and quite uncomfortable. That would normally make my decision for me because I always lean towards comfort. But I got really big, I knew I was capable, I talked myself through it, I had my husband for support, and I DID IT! I felt strong, powerful, and able regardless of pain and discomfort or fear.

These are simply a few of mine, come up with your own and make this your personal mission to be YOU in a big way—because you are frickin’ awesome! And I am so lucky to know you!

I am choosing to live this way because it is my birthright to do so—to live this life in any way I wish. And yes, I will also be soft, quiet, invisible, curl up in my shell, hibernate, rest, nurture, and nourish but I will rock that too! :)

Let’s all stand in who we are fully and completely. This month of September will be a month of shared intention to celebrate who we are and all our wonders. Let us share them with the world so that we may empower others to do the same and encourage them to rock who they are.

We are alive people! We are still here. We are passionate, vibrant, talented, loving humans who have a life worth living and a legacy to leave. It is our time.

We got this people. Ready? Let’s go!
