How did your November Life Score go? Were you able to get that number down by a few, or a lot? Thanks, to those of you who shared your journey with me, and let me know what your score was. It was great to see you take such interest in lowering that number, especially within the tech world. It is amazing how a few simple shifts can bring about huge health benefits.
As we are now in December I want to keep going with the tech awareness by introducing you to a lovely human we just had the pleasure of having in our home, Colin Littlefield BBEC. (His contact info is at the bottom of this email.) He is a building biology environmental consultant and does EMF evalutation and mitigation. He comes to your home and does an in person reading of everything! And when I say everything, I mean everything! It was so eye-opening to learn about our house and what the readings were. He tests EMFs, RFs, dirty electricity, 5G, cell towers, and so much more. Even if you live in an apartment/condo it is well worth the time to have him come out as there are many little shifts that can, once again, greatly improve our well-being.
We were really lucky as we scored in the top 10% of clean energy/low EMF/RF/etc. Phew! It’s challenging because so much of what we are exposed to on a daily basis is out of our control; coming from neighbors, cell towers in our neighborhood, location of modems, etc. The exciting news is there are simple solutions that will improve everything!
I happen to be EMF sensitive but honestly, most people are and just don’t know it. This is important for all of us regardless of recognizing symptoms or not. Our world is only getting more and more tech driven so it is very important to be mindful and conscious of all you bring in your home, your car, and your life. It is up to us to say what we are going to expose ourself to; as much as we humanly can.
Some of the symptoms of EMF/dirty electricity exposure are auto-immune disease, neurological conditions, poor sleep, attentional disorders, anxiety, dozens of chronic symptoms associated with inflammation, headaches, pain in hands, fingers, wrists, eye pain, blurred vision, irritability, anxiety, essential tremors, ringing in ears, memory challenges, fatigue, muscle weakness, heart palpitations, arthritis, and more.
Here are a few simple things Colin suggested we do to make our home even cleaner, safer, and less toxic.
1. Put remote controls in Faraday sleeves/metal boxes/foil/etc. I was blown away at how high of a reading our tiny little Apple TV remotes had. And the one in the bedroom I had been keeping in my bed side table right next to my head; not good. The reading on the meter was off the charts on the Apple TV remote. Since there is no way to turn them off you simply have to enclose them in metal to block the signal. You would have to have him test yours specifically to get an accurate reading but its best to protect yourself and keep in Faraday/metal container regardless. Those little things are pinging 24/7.
2. Get wireless remote control outlet switches, which allows you to plug into your outlet and then plug in your lamp, TV, modem, printer, etc. into it and then you can remotely power it all down when done and/or every night. We don’t need our modems running while we sleep. They are very inexpensive and simple to set up. Now, some of us have our home alarm systems wirelessly connection so you will have to do your own homework and decide accordingly.
3. Swapped out all dimmer switches. They create electromagnetic interference and give off a lot of dirty electricity and once switched it was almost a zero reading. No dimmer switches people.
4. Emmett has some homework as Colin told us to change out some Romex we have that needs to be conduit wrapped and not Romex as Romex is not good for our health. Since it is a non-metallic sheathing there is no protection like with metal conduit.
5. We are going hardwire! Yay! Finally! No more WiFi. Emmett is going to run ethernet cable under the house and then we will have a few spots where we can simply plug into our TV and computers when needed. This also gives you a stronger, more stable, connection and our house doesn’t become a hot spot of electromagnetic frequencies pinging all over the place, constantly.
6. Power down all devices when not using. Don’t just close lid, or turn on Airplane mode, etc. Power down. Otherwise it is still going to give you a high reading. We tested it all ways and it was wild to see just how much is pouring out of these things all day long.
7. Don’t use any devices while they are charging. Period. The end.
8. Purchase EMF shielding fabric, which has copper and nickel filaments that are extremely conductive and therefore suitable for blocking out electromagnetic rays, for areas where there is a high reading, like where I work. I have a mic, laptop, speaker, nano, mixer, fan, ring light, iPad, iPhone, lamp, and device chargers. This can all simply have one piece of fabric draped over it and it protects me from all of that unhealthy energy. EMF shielding material/fabric can be used anywhere it’s needed. Some even get an EMF canopy over their bed—super cool.
9. Turn WiFi, cellular service, and bluetooth off on devices when you don’t need it. Try to never use bluetooth. You can still use your devices for many things and not need to be connected to WiFi/cellular. For instance I am writing this email on my computer but I am not connected to WiFi and I have an EMF protector on my computer as well. AND I am only spending 10 minutes writing this so I am keeping my exposure to a minimum because, let’s face it, we cannot eliminate it completely so it is always best to limit our time with tech.
10. The main advice regarding our devices is simply don’t use them unless you must. Don’t carry them on your body. Don’t use those lanyard cases you wear around your neck or over your shoulder. Don’t put them in your pocket. Don’t put them on your lap. Don’t hold them by your head. Don’t use ear buds. Don’t wear tech like watches, glasses, rings, FitBits, etc. We all have become way to dependent on tech. It is time to cut the cord. You can also keep devices in Faraday cases and simply take them out when you need to use. This way you are more protected from them.
11. And there are other little things that can be done too when we cannot control our external surroundings like a neighbor having a smart meter on the side of their house by your bedroom wall, etc. There are EMF blocking paints, shielding fabrics, and lots of cool stuff that Colin can guide you through if needed.
The main thing to remember is, knowledge is power people. I always want to know as much as I can and then I will decide what I do with that knowledge. For me personally, if I learn that something isn’t good for me, I make a change immediately and it is a permanent change. Within 24 hours we made all of the shifts, except for the two home projects hubby has to do under the house. I feel better already, seriously! It is also peace of mind simply knowing that as we sleep there isn’t this intense electrical current pulsing around you and your house. The lamp I had by the bed was giving off so much dirty electricity it was horrible. I got rid of it immediately and now have this tiny little non-electrical light by the bed. We also started using our yummy 100% beeswax candles for light and love the softness of the experience. I highly recommend doing some discovery in this realm and deepening your awareness. We owe it to our health, well-being and not becoming a complete victim of societal norms, pressures and what is being sold to us as conveniences but trust me, they are not at all. Sickness is not a convenience.
As my mother always said, and one more thing. :) I wanted to include one more fun thing for December for us all to play with. Everyone had such a fun time with the Minimizing Game we did a while back that I thought we could play with it again this month. There is so much focus on buying, spending, doing, and that all comes with pressure, again, societal norms, expectations, etc. Instead lets give things away, let’s share what we have. When, and if, we do need to purchase something make sure it is at a local mom ’n pop shop and not big box chains. Please reach out if you need ideas, I am happy to share my Rolodex with you. (Yes, I just said Rolodex.) :)
Every day in the month of December we give something away. How many items we give away depends on the day of the month. Since it is now December 3 we will give one thing away to check off December 1. Then another two things away for December 2. And three things away for today, December 3. Then we are caught up and we continue the mindful sharing project through the end of December. If you miss a day just make up for it the next day.
You can gift these items, donate them or throw them away if they have served their purpose. If you need ideas of how to donate please reach out and I will introduce you to the marvelous world of Buy Nothing on FB. It is my favorite part of gifting.
Let me know if you have any questions about Colin’s services. He is such a wonderful man and I fully stand behind his offerings. His energy is lovely and he is uber smart. I have become a bit of a geek about all of this and I am proud to say so. His rate is very affordable and he is quite mindful of your time. If you just want him to come and do a reading of your office, your house, or perhaps simply address a specific area you would like more information about, he is able to come and shine light on everything for you. He also happens to be a very holistically minded individual, which is a major plus for me. And he wears booties while in your house, I mean, come on. We love him right? :)
I so look forward to this marvelous month of December with you as we happily give things away that we don’t need and will receive so much joy in sharing with others who do need. And I am excited for you to meet Colin and learn about all the ways you can live an even healthier, more mindful life while here on this beautiful planet. If you don’t live in the LA area I still recommend scheduling a consult with him as you can learn a lot from him and apply the changes in your house to live a life that is unplugged, grounded, and vibrant!
Lots of love to you and yours.
