Are you ready for June’s theme? You’re gonna love it. No, really, you are. :)
Lie down for 3, 5, or 10 minutes a day. Yup, that’s it.
Now, here’s the details for those who like going deep with me.
~Lie down on the earth; floor, mat, grass, sand, dirt, for 3, 5, 10 minutes every day. Not in bed where you might fall asleep though. I will be doing 10 minutes a day if you care to join me.
~Be comfortable.
~Make your space intentional.
~Notice your breath.
~Follow it.
~In and out— let your mind soften.
~When thoughts come – and they will – you simply notice them and return to the breath.
~The beauty is in the returning— do not fret about losing concentration; that is part of the plan.
~You lose concentration and you come back. It is in the coming back where the magic happens.
~You enter witness mode. You observe more, react less.
~Coming back to witness becomes easier and easier to do with time and commitment.
~Your stress levels go down; you feel more grounded. Asserting your boundaries is easier. Taking care of yourself is simpler.
~When the waves rock and the sky darkens, you calibrate your witness mode and you ride the storm with some grace.
~It will change your life. But in small and subtle ways that create the largest ripples and effects.
~It is a way to be in this world with less reactivity.
~We make better choices.
~We are less prone to pain, suffering, stress and anger.
~Be more of an observer.
~It is the medicine, the brakes, the parachute and the sails.
~During the hardest moments of life – be grateful for your ability to stay centered and find your breath.
~Deepen your ability to north your stars and steer your ship even when the waves are rocking and the sky is dark.
You can call this whatever you want, but it is simply an act of love. Some might call it meditation, others might say it is Svasana, yoga, or mindfulness. Sometimes the language intimidates us away from a practice. So instead, just lie down on the earth for 3, 5, or 10 minutes every day and see what happens.
Looking forward to hearing about your journey. As always, reach out if you have any questions or wish to check in and share your experience.
See you in class tomorrow, Wednesday, evening for a gentle stretch class at 8:00 pm PT. We will practice the above together.
